Toronto Wedding Photographer: Guest Post by Margaret Corrigan {It’s All in the Details}

As the lover of details, organization and storytelling myself, I knew as soon as I came across Margaret Corrigan of Gorgeous Events in Toronto, I had to feature her as a guest blogger to write about just that…DETAILS!
Please enjoy her informative post about the important role that the smaller details will play in telling your story.

When I start to plan and design a wedding, I always try to get as much information about you as a couple as I can. I’ll usually ask about when you met, where you met, your personal style, your favourite places to visit, hang out, favourite music, sports, restaurant, books, films…the LIST goes on.
And while the details vary from couple to couple it is so cool and so much fun building each couple’s story, layer by layer, through the decor of their wedding.
My job is essentially to help you tell that story…because the personal touches and attention to detail will set the scene for making your wedding memorable. I promos, if you introduce some visual moments, you’ll be rewarded with not only a beautiful day, but your photographs will be so much more livelier, so much more interesting and you’ll enjoy recalling your wedding day for years to come. Because it will be there in the details.
When I work with a couple I start to paint a picture of all that they tell me and I’ll narrow down the elements until eventually a theme or style emerges. We’ll develop an inspiration and mood board of images.
Nowadays, websites such as Pinterest and Style me Pretty have made it so easy to collect beautiful images and fun ideas. Other favourite places to check out are, of course, Martha Stewart Weddings and Snippet and Ink (really great for colour palettes and  inspiration boards).
Just always remember, your guests should always walk into your reception and know that you definitely had a hand in how your wedding looks. You want them to say “this is SOoooo what Jessica and Dan would do!” And believe me, your guests will be thrilled that you took the time and effort.
Happy Planning!
Margaret Corrigan
